When I read about the synopsis of Kaalakaandi, I came to know that it is a black comedy film. I had seen Delhi Belly which was written by Akshat Verma and now he directed this film. So I thought this movie might be a good one in this genre, but my expectations were ruined very badly.
PLOT - There are multiple storylines in this film which are scheduled to forecast the unfortunate situations in one night. One night. Yes, this film is based on only and only one night. Saif Ali Khan who is a successful and innocent happy living banker Rileen who finds out that he has a stomach cancer. Now Rileen thinks about doing stuff which he has never imagined about. So he goes in his Cousin( Akshay Oberoi) s wedding where he tries an Acidic Drug which gets him very high. Another story is of Vijay Raaz and Deepak Dobariyal who are working for a Don . Whereas the third story is about Shobhita Dhulipala and her boyfriend Kunaal Roy Kapoor. Basically there are multiple story lines but the film does not move ahead. Though there are some notable moments but those scenes are few and countable. Saif Ali Khan as a beggining stoner nails the film with his extreme acting skills whereas use of abusive language seems to be worthless in this film.
DIRECTION - Akshat Verma , the writer of one of the best movies of this genre Delhi Belly must be really high while writing the script of this film. Too much loopholes and glitches in the film to connect to the audience.
PERFORMANCE - Saif Ali Khan totally nailed his character with his superb acting . The performance of Saif Ali Khan was fantastic which was the only good thing in the whole movie. The performance of other cast was average and unconvincing.
SOUNDTRACK - The only good song in the movie is Swagpur ka Chaudhary which is played in very few songs whereas the other songs are useless and an failed attempt to add life to this movie.
MY OPINION - This movie should only be watched for the performance of Saif Ali Khan , otherwise it is a waste trip.
THANK YOU.
