Hello guys! I watched Kaalakaandi last sunday and it was a weird experience that I would like to explain in this review.
The movie is made by the guy who was responsible in making of the movie called ’Delhi Belly’. That movie was a successful venture with Amir Khan as its producer and promoter to a great extent. The maker has a unique way of putting together a film and his presentation of the story is also one of its own kind. It worked the last time but not this time.
The movie is about a guy( Saif Ali Khan) who finds out that he is suffering from cancer and has only few months to live his life. The guys wife has an affair with his younger brother unknown to him. And there are some random characters which have been used throughout the movie.
The plot had much scope but sadly the writer did not exploit the potential of this story to make a better script. Instead, the movie is lost in the confusion of which way it wants to move and ultimately ends up into a disappointment. Like for instance, the movie ends up exploring the uglyness of night life in high profile societies of Mumbai. But it does not have much to do with the basic plotline. There are many other similar irrelevant stuff which could not fit in the storyline but still became a part of the script.
The Saif Ali Khan’s character is turned into a Maniac drug addict trying out every bad thing to do in his life after finding about his cancer. The brother of saif and saif’s fiancee are in an intimate relation which again leads to nowhere till the end.
The movie has some clever scenes but they don’t make it a good movie essentially. The work on script was lacklustre and it spoiled the fun which the story could have resulted into.
I advise against watching this movie to save your time and money rather than wasting them on a good for nothing kind of film.
