Other side of Kank

I watched Kank Last night and I must tell you its one of those new generation Movies where they have challenged the System.

I don’t want to repeat the story all over again here because most of us have so far either seen the movie or read the review. I want to throw some light on some points of the movie.

First of all I must congratulate Karan Johar for trying a subject such as this.

AMITABH BACHAN

here is a rich old man who has no hassle’s sleeping with hookers and flirting with any women who he can lay his hands on. his family and his son are fine with his antics as long as it keeps the old man happy. something like this was unthinkable few years ago in Hindi Cinema.

PREITY ZINTA

here is a 21 century woman hats off to her who owns a house looks after her family earns big money loves her husband and kid pursues her ambitions but cannot forgive infidelity

RANI MUKHERJEE

here is a woman who marries Abhishek because she has to marry someone or perhaps because she has some moral debt to repay. she is not sure whether she loves him or not but yet has no choice to decide whether she must marry him or not . she does marry him and it regrets latter

Sharukh Khan

well this is a perfect male hypocrite that you find in every nook and corner. he knows he is marrying a beautiful but ambitious woman. but expects her to be a typical pati parmeshwar wife and wait for dinner for him which she cant be. he is a failed football player who has lost his leg and blasts his frustration on his successful wife. and meantime finds solace with another woman who is in a failed marriage

Abhishek Bachan

i felt his was the most lovable character a fine young man who is madly in love with Rani and knows nothing more than the fact that he loves her. . he is so childishly innocent that he doesn’t even realize his wife has no love for him. yet he does not forgive infidelity

I condone karan Johar every bit but I disagree with him in few things why couldn’t the 2 Shahrukh and Rani just walk of the marriage? if karan was trying a bold theme than there was no need to punish them for 3 years? was it? Abhisheh finally finds a match in Catherine but was it necessary to keep preity single? or was it tailor made for Indian audience?

There was nothing sinful in it? so many people realize after marriage that its not the right choice and they divorce and marry again? why did he had to make the audience hate Rani and for infidelity?

Kank was a bold show indeed but yet some habits die hard perhaps it will take another generation for Indian audience to accept divorce without any guilt
