Bollywood at its best.

From the exquisite sets and costumes to the wonderful music, it’s obvious Karan has done a lot of homework . Handling the subject matter with sensitivity and restraint, he never lets any of the leads lapse into histrionics and coaxes splendid performances from SRK, Abhi, and Rani. The result is a fine example of how Bollywood is capable of producing mature stories without sacrificing the entertainment factor.

KANK focuses on romance between Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji - both married to different people.Rani is married to Abhishek Bachchan and Shah Rukh is married to Priety Zinta. Both the couples are settled into a life of domestic routine, and are convinced that they are happy in their respective relationships, yet the protagonists still yearn for something deeper and more meaningful, which is precisely what they find in each other.

Karans follow up film to KHNH, KANK, is as different as two films can possibly be. And despite veering off a little too much from the light hearted KHNH to a more serious and silent take on love, KANK holds your attention and even engrosses you for large parts of the film.

The film has reflections of Hollywood film Closer - which also deals with a similar story of two couple and the bond of love affair between them.Coupled with melodic songs and blending flawlessly with the narration , the story unfolds slowly until it reaches its surprising climax.

A couple of scenes in the film stand out the most. The love making scene between SRK and Rani is beautifully shot. There is lot of passion and love but the expressions on the lovers says it more than anything else.

Also the scene in the beginning of the film in the bench where SRK gives marriage lesson to Rani is euqally impressive. The movie flows smoothly and is a crisp 2 1/2 hours long. The melodious songs are beautifully picturised and give progression to the storyline.

Rani as Maya does full justice to her role. She portrays her emotions through her eyes with ease.Abhishek is superb in every frame - a natural in every way.

KANK belongs to SRK completely. Roll out the red carpet to him. To state that he lives the part with flourish would be an understatement. It’s his most accomplished work after DDLJ a film that made him superstar. Amitabh goes over the top, which does come as a surprise. Preity is first-rate.

KANK is a must see. It is a rare example of Bollywood at its best!
