Its been a long long time since I saw a film first day first show.

AM kind of glad I decided to see KANK before any reviews of the film would form their opinions in my head.

While all of the surprise elements in the film had already been exposed by the makers of the film, it was still a treat to watch.

To begin with I think this is my favourite Karan Johar film.

Like has been said it is a mature story and is also his most complicated film so far. More the complications, the more it has been handled head-on.

We all know that SRK is married to Preity and Abhishek to Rani - SRK and Rani both fall in love out of their marriage and this is probably the first mainstream commercial film that actually dares to break the tabboo of the Indian society.

What I like about all the characters in the film is that neither of them are right or wrong. NEither are black or white they are all grey like most of us are. The characters are as real as can be.

Hence you love them all, hate them all and sympathize with them all at some point or the other in the film.

I had also read somewhere that SRK was afraid that Abhishek would walk away with all the sympathy because he was the nice guy and SRK was neither the doting husband or the lovable father or loyal son. Well it was actually refreshing to watch SRK being so imperfect (and yet having both the leading ladies in love with him).

The film features the creme de la creme of the industry and so to talk about performances wouldn’t really mean much except they are all good.

Senior Bachchan’s character however is a little over the top. Which a lot of people in the audiences were loving, but I personally do not like him playing frivolous roles.

The production value of the film alongwith all the technicalities is great, again, needless to say.

The songs didn’t make much of an impact on the cd, but one doesn’t mind them in the film.

The only drawback in the film would be that the first half is a little too long.

Otherwise full credit to the director for choosing a bold story and yet handling it so cautiously considering the majority of our audiences still come from a conservative background.
