Never Say Goodbye

Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee are the stars of Never Say Goodbye, (Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna).

The rest of the cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Preity Zinta.

Karan Johar is the Director and had Yash Raj Films USA Inc. distribute it Canada, America and the U.K.

The score was written by the musical trio: Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy.

I saw it when I was in Vancouver where I had to read the English at the bottom of the film, because they characters spoke Hindi.

The Plot:

The film, set in New York, is the story of Dev, a man whose shining career as a soccer player is cut short by an accident that leaves him with a limp. He resents his wife who has a fabulous career at a Fashion Magazine.

He meets Maya whose husband adores her. Yet that isn’t enough to make her happy.

The two of the decide to try to help each other fix there marriages.

Dev’s father sees his daughter-in-law nuzzling her lover in a public place. He doesn’t tell her then, but waits until he has to go to the hospital.

He is dying when he says to Maya, "Leave my son." "You don’t love him. By staying with him you are denying him of someone else’s love and yourself of true love. These relationships won’t make anyone happy."

The Music:

Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Mitwa, Where’s The Party Tonight, Tumhi Dekho Naa, Rock ’N Roll Soniye and Farewell Trance.

Sony BMG has acquired the rights for the music of this film.

Trivia:

I read that Karan Johar said that the film was inspired by what he saw in India and not by the Hollywood film Closer.

Karan Johar movies will always have a 4 word title that has the letter "K" in it. To me it shows he has a big ego!!! I may be wrong because I don’t know him.

What I Thought:

Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee played their parts very well. I guess that’s because Karan Johar is a good director.

I thought this was a film that departs from the Bollywood film’s that focus on good marriages and family values.

There are still songs and dances but in a new refreshing way.

The families in this movie were born in India but moved to live in NYC. They are rich. I’m not sure if the people living in India will relate to this film.

Did You Know:

That India does not allow kissing in films or TV programs ?

That today quite a few marriages end in by getting divorce ?

Some men say, " My wife doesn’t respect me. There is no sex. She feels like I am another child." That’s why they have sex with other people they aren’t married to?

That is why I believe many people in India won’t like this film, but I enjoyed it very much.

Thank you for reading my review.
