The super-hyped KABHI ALVIDA NA KEHENA or KANK as it is being called released, and we all saw it. But the reviews that we are getting from the movie are mixed. Previously, films like YAADIEN and VEER-ZAARA have also got mixed reviewes, but that was for other reasons. YAADIEN started as a beautiful film on father-daughter relation but ended up being just another love story with parents acting evil. And VEER-ZAARA was passionless.
But KANK is more like YAADIEN in this respect - a beatuful story ruined.
The story of the film (specially the ending) is awesome (for a karan johar film). But why is the film so long? The three year leap in the end is pointless. If SHAH RUKH & RANI love each other so much, why do they lie that they are happy? It looks as if this was done just to add the title track. The film isin’t extended, but over-extended. this really makes the film very boring.
And why does AMITABH BACHCHAN acts in such a vulgur manner? Commenting on women’s bums (or CHANDIGARH) looks cheap. And the way he runs with prostitutes is sick.
PREITY looks old and ugly. the look doesn’t suits her at all. and her acting is mediocore.
ABHISHEK, SRK, RANI are good.
In the end, we may just say that the movie had a lot of potential but was ruined coz of t5he director. there was no need for songs like where’s the party & the title track. they only made the movie too long.
however, the love-making scene of the movie is good. at least karan understands that no matter how pure your love is, there is always a physical attraction between lovers. Most filmmakers neglect this.
