1.Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (8 out of 10)
Singer : Sonu Nigam, Alka Yagnik
Typical Karan Johar style beginning of the Album – a sweet piano opening notes. This is a beautiful but a separation song. It carries the title with it. It is slow and sad which is not expected
for first song but it has to carry the theme of the movie. Song is really soft and beautiful. It’s heartbreaking too. Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik have treated this song with their beautiful melodious voice. Javed Akhtar, as usual, riding on his great https://lyrics. First time working with Karan Johar, Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy have given melodious Music. This you may remind Kal ho na ho tune.
- Mitwa (9 out of 10)
Signer : Caralisa, Shafqat Amanat Ali, Shankar Mahadevan
Mitwa is a really smooth lovely track. You would notice first thing in the song is it’s on Indian treatment. With Caralisa and Shafqat Amanat Ali as singer, you should guess its non Indian treatment. It is a lovely love song with Indian, Pakistani and Western music mixtures. Javed saab has very clear lyrics and that makes the track worth listening again. Voices of Caralisa and Shafqat Amanat Ali are impressive. Shakarn Mahadevan has also contributed well in song with different style of singing. But the credit of the song shall go to music directors who have given wonderful music.
This song is available with its a remix version which is called Mitwa Revisited. Remix is also good but I am eager to see how it is shown on screen. At the beginning of the song you will be amused by its effect in headphones – music went from left to right and right to left. You will feel like passing music through your brain.
- Where’s The Party Tonight (6 out of 10)
Signer : Loy Mendoza, Shaan, Shankar Mahadevan, Vasundhara Das
Where there is Shankar, Ehsan and Loy, you need to have a dance sequence. Most famous was DCH dance number. Where is the party is also a dance number. It is quite similar to It’s the Time to Disco from Kal Ho Na Ho. it’s exciting and catchy, but somehow failed to relive magic of Its time to Disco. Hope after watching movie, I change my view. If you listen it properly you will realize that Shankar Mahadevan sung all does the English stanzas and Shaan - Vasundhara Das has taken care of Hindi https://lyrics.
4.Tumhi Dekho Na (8 out of 10)
Signer : Sonu Nigam, Alka Yagnik
This is romantic song # 2. Its worth listening. It can easily be favorite song of many people (though Mitawa is my personal favorite) Sonu Nigam again proved that he is having best voice of Shahrukh in recent years when it comes to romantic songs. Alka is as usual singing well but Sonu has overshadowed her. I will put lyrics of this song ahead of Mitawa, as it is simple magic. The music is soothing and the lyrics are heartfelt. A perfect Karan Johar film song !
5.Rock N’Roll Soniye (8 out of 10)
Singer : Mahalaxmi Iyer, Shaan, Shankar Mahadevan
After Fanaa, this is the 2nd song of Shaan I like. He along with Mahalaxmi has sung song very well. First time when I listened this song I have mistaken Shankar’s voice as Sudesh Bhonsle voice. It is really matching Amitabh voice initially. This song is more like an old age rock-n-roll dance song. You can relive Elvis Presley kind of music. Being little long and having typical music, it would remain favorite of selective segment. I put this song just above average but it is going to rock parties in this X-mas. I can easily guess that Amitabh along with rest of 4 people is going to feature in this
song. It is much similar to Pretty woman of Kal Ho na ho.
- Farewell Trance (7 out of 10)
Now it become like a trend to give theme music in movie. This is one another theme music. It appears to be slow at the start and then pick up. No wonder if this theme is used multiple times in the movie. It good but I would like only I saw how it is picturized in the movie.
