The tradition continues.....candy floss love stories from the house of Karan Johar continue with Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna after the super-success of Kal Ho naa HO.The album is a relief after highly disappointing albums like Fanaa , Krrish etc to name a few!
The album opens with ’ Tumko Bhi Hain Khabar’ where Alka Yagnik unites with Sonu Nigam that is straight out of a typical Chopra/Johar setup. This is a sad song, a song of distress and anguish, as the lover cries out to his beloved, not to leave him and go away. . Sonu is one of the singers who is blessed with a fantastic range, and can effortlessly sing at a high pitch. In this song too, he alternates smoothly between high and low pitches. The love torn heart is weeping, and Sonu conveys this very well. Alka is excellent in this number to which Rani is at her expressive best in the promos. Her eyes say everything while her moves make one want for more. A good number!

Mitwa should set an example to tell a story in the lyrical way. One of the best worded number in commercial mould in recent times, it is quite catchy, has excellent music by SLE.Never knew that a simple harmonium in the background could create such a mesmerizing effect as is done in case of this track. A beautiful number, it deserves to be listened for the sheer pleasure of listening to soft music.

Where is the party ?
Well, if SLE are there, then an item number cannot be far behind. So here comes ’Where is the party ?’ by Shaan and .Vasundhara Das .This number is like an instant coffee. It gets on you immediately and is very catchy. And you know why - because the beats are very much the same as ’Its time to Disco’ but far superior. The vocals do not seem to be of Shaan as they are very husky but if they are - then kudos as he does it with a remarkable elan. Occasionally, the music drowns the words, but otherwise this song is a good one for making it to the dance floor. Musical accompaniments are good on the guitar and violin. Vashundhara uses her husky voice very well, to sound very sensuous. The song, along with its picturization, should set the screen on fire. One can not take away the credit from SLE at all for this wonderful number but a piece of warning - they should restrain themselves from getting into a groove of composing a similar item song movie after movie ala BNB , KHNH etc.
Tumhi Dekho Na , by Kumar Sonu and Alka Yagnik, is a medium paced song, and again is a love duet. It talks about the distance between the lovers becoming less, and of the lovers coming together. Sonu’s rich baritone voice adds a lot of depth to the song, while Alka shows her versatility by and singing the song plainly, full of love and devotion.

After Alka and Kumar, it is Mahalaxmi Iyer to join the gang with a situational fun song ’Rock N ROLL’. A rhythmic song set in a western mode, it is a ’beat one-beat two’ kind of a soft track seemingly set on night club .Shaan gives company to Malini in this song that is a reminiscent of the style of 70s. The song turns out to be better than ’’where is the party?’ in terms of both music and lyrics and is quite enjoyable till the end.
With high expectations and the standards set by Karan-SRK and music, a listener looks for nothing less than a blockbuster musical score. SLE have done a superb job in churning out a number of melodies in one single package. Probably the best score after Veer Zaraa surpassing even KHNH , this album will be fast disappearing from the music store racks. Go for it before you miss out even the final copy of the day!
