When Mr Karan Johar (kkhh, k3g) Shanker Ehsaan Loy ( dil chahata hai, b-n-b, khnh) and Mr Javed Akhter come together, we expect miracles. But they also have to keep in mind the story and give music suitable to it. But still the audience expects pleasing music.
When I heard the music of this movie, the title song began beautifully. It was though somewhat like har ghadi badal rahi hai roop... but pleasent. But soon it became boring. the music has a gloomy tone in it. and the music between two stanzas is unbearabely long.
The song rock and roll and wheres the party tonight are mere reflections of pretty woman and time to disco. Even the romantic song tumhi dekho naa lacks the passion and love in it. Instead, it has the same sad touch like the title track.
Mitwa sounds good but in its TV promo, Shah Rukh spreads his hands sooo many times that it looks irritating.
KANK is based on extra-marital affair. Films that have been previously made on this subject have had brilliant and ever lasting music. How can we forget kabhi kabhie mere dil mien khayal aata hai, rang barse bheege chunar wali, har dil jo pyar karega woh gaana gayega, bheege honth tere and mera dil jis dil pe fida hai... ek dilruba hai.
Bewafaa, based on a similar subject was slow and predictable. Still it became a semi-hit (in spite of its 20crore budget) because of its music and cast. I have mentioned it only to specify the role that music plays in such kind of movies.
But KANK is a sub-standard product. In this album, it looks clearly that Karan Johar has misused his banner, thinking that we will accept whatever he delivers. the music directors have run out of tunes. and most dissapointingly, Mr Javed Akhtar fails to leave an impact.
They havent given us any reason not to say ALVIDA to this music. so IS FILM KE MUSIC KI
KEHENA HI HOGA ALVIDA
