Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna-- Uff.. Big Banner.. Big Star Cast. Big Production House. Big Karan Johar..
The movie posters and promos... are screaming out and telling the world, "We are the best, Come watch us, get the Ccalendar, and buy the audio too. Then you guys cry and we will laugh our way to the bank". The message is loud and clear.
Whatever!
I am in deep sympathy with SEL with this audio. Shankar Ehsaan Loy, rocked with "Dil Chata Hai".. they took a break and gave some breathing space to the nasal and the topiwala guy Himesh...They rocked again with Kajra Re..
But this time with KANK, they seem lost. The songs give a feeling that these are compositions becuase they were asked to compose.. and some becuase they wanted to be in vogue.
Karan Johar said, Jatin Lalits music rocked in DDLJ, lets use the same kind for KABHI kHUSHI KABHI GUM. SRK wud have said...Kal Ho Na Ho rocked.. so lets use the same kind for KANK.
To the plight of SEL, they for sure know whats in vogue and whats not. They know trance is IN. Techno remixes are IN. Sufi is IN. And managed to get these too in the album.
But all songs look a half-hearted effort of complying with the trend, playing safe, no risks, no trials.
And the outcome?
Thoda KKKG; thoda, KHNH, and baaki lets see....if the audience plays it more number of times, they willl like it ! :-)
That was too bbrash for me to write that!
I wont comment on the songs per se..but can suggest you where and with whom you ca play them.
Kabhi Alvida Na kehna: Play it when you are alone. When you dont want to tell the whole world that you hate SRK/Karan Johar. Play it when you arent able to find the DDLJ /KHNH audio. it is just the same. Ok, itsnt all that bad. Sonu Nigam is good, but would to listen if he has some variations.
Mitwa: Play it after a party , back home in the car, and dont bother to play it again . Instead try the remix version.
Mitwa (Remix): In the gym, in a party, in the car stereo. and if bored with work. Play it after you play "Nach Baliye" BNB. You would know. that SEL have been polluted by their clan.
Wheres the party Tonite: Perfect party number, play it when you have some SRK fan to impress. You wont like it if you were in love with "Its the time to Disco"!
Rock N Roll Soniye: Listened to Pretty Woman in KHNH?, Yes! This too will work for you. However, this is too damn slow, and the lyrics too below Javed Akhtar standards. Javed Saab pep it up a little. Gulzar saab can make you look mediocre!
Farewell Trance: This is my pick, and kudos to SEL for this. Title music intact, trance infused, words injected... and finall a slick number. Play it on and on.. and you wont get tired of listening. SEL, you guys looked too inspired by the Enigma -style. Its ok, though!
Buy the audio, listen once and wait for the next album (if any) for the year.
I hate this! How am I supposed to rate an album on ORGINALITY when it has been copied by the same music director from his own movie??
Anyways...
