I must begin by saying that I am a very very big fan of the Big B. And I saw this movie on the first day of its release, mainly for Amitabh. And that is the reason I loved this movie....coz as usual AB was absolutely superb in the movie.
While I do like Shah Rukh Khan also, when AB was in the screen, the other stars just didnt seem to match up to him...even in the dance sequence ’’Shawa Shawa’’....
The movie also has other big stars...SRk, Kajol, Hrithik and Kareena Kapoor. Each one has performed well...
The sets are absolutely phenomenal...the whole movie gives a lavish look - in terms of costumes, sets, people etc.
THe music too is good...so is the choreography and the picturisation.
However, the plot is cliched...the entire movie is very high on ’’tear’’ appeal...like ur everyday soap opera..
The character of jaya Bachhan is very boring.....mooning, brooding, crying all the time..in fact, someone in the audience even shouted half way through about Jaya - ’’when does she die ?? ’’
Also the character of kareen kapoor, though very glamorous and funny, does appear to be very contradictory - hep cat in most scenes but very very traditional appearing in other scenes....doesnt gel...but she sure loooks good..:)
On the whole, if u arent too finicky about storylines..like to see your favourite stars, and enjoy watching big budget movies...you are bound to like this....
