Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, or better known as K3G, starts the wonderful ShahRukh Khan, Green-eyed Hrithik Roshan, Evergreen Amitabh Bachman, brilliant Kajol, another wonderful actoress Jaya Bachman and the fresh Kareena Kapoor with others. Where does it go wrong you ask? Huh! K3G may have a packed star-cast, but honestly speaking there is no need!
The movie is basically the same old story, but just has some extra spice; with Kareenas outfits, the cost of the movie itself and the use of the star cast. The story revolves around a boy falling in love with a girl who is not the same standard, from lower background. Which is pathetic seeing as we see the father as being from the rich with a todays mind, hes wearing fashionable clothes, drinking alcohol (o.k its wine, but still)-but generally a man with the mind of 2001/2002 is not really into the cast/background thing.
Anyways moving on swiftly, Karan Johar has tried to do the thing he does well in bringing out the emotions he does this again, again and again. He also adds in a bit of comedy, by using Kajol and Jonny Lever. Both have done well (but they dont really deserve a Filmfare award for it- if you know what I mean!!)
Jaya though, has done well, though her role is quite short, but thanks to her role she ends the movie-thank God! Amitabh is actually disappointing, along with Kareena Kapoor. Kareena is just annoying, she is shown to be the Indian girl that gets influenced by the western natures. Being from the U.K, I have never ever come across an Indian girl like that before-infact no one like that. She is not realistic and really does get on your nerves-unless your a male then you will perhaps like (cough, cough) what she is wearing!!!
Anyways, the music is another disappointment, apart from the title song which is so-so, Suraj Hau Maddham and Yeh Ladka Hai Allah -the rest of the songs were poor. Though the songs are glamourous in the movie. But the music is basically the same as two years ago.
The movie is long, and does bore you from time to time. Honestly speaking I had high expectations of K3G, but it disappointed me a lot; everything needed brushing up from directing skills to the acting. Though loads of money was spent, it honestly went down the drain. I think if Karan had to spend all this money then he should have given it to charity. Believe me, poor people who have become millionaires!
For the time being, Iam going to take a Chill Pill and just hope that Karan Johar gets his Kuch Kuch Hota Hai magic back.
