Overhyped.

Kabir Singh is unique type of work in latest time directed by Sandeep Vanga who is also the writer and director of Arjun Reddy from which it is copied.

This gives indication movies are trading regional boundaries. We have had few really good South Indian film remakes in the past. This one raised expectations too. But some hopes are meant to be trashed. Kabir Singh is the story of a maverick but brilliant surgeon Shahid Kapoor who has anger management issues. He falls in love with his docile college junior Kiara Advani.Their love withstand long distance relationship only to be separated by her family who are against love marriage. After losing the love of his life Kabir embarks on a journey of alcohol, drugs & self-destruction.This almost 3 hour long movie starts with a bang, energy packed entry of Shahid Kapoor followed by his swag. But that’s the end of goodness and beginning of an ordeal. The pre-interval love saga is unconvincing, lack of chemistry between lead pair quite evident. Second-half is no better, keeping up with Shahid’s emotional mood swings and erratic outbursts. Screenplay is pathetic, viewers easily predicting what would come next on screen. Editing is so poor that the movie seems longer than a one-day cricket match! Music is strictly ok. Probably, the only saving grace of the movie is Shahid who has acted really well. Kiara Advani has improved from her previous performances but still has long way to go. However, the biggest villain of the movie is its story, rather, the lack of it. The entire film hinges on antics of Kabir Singh which gets on the nerves after few rolls. This is one of those movies which ignites the feeling of rushing home during interval, to not to come back again. Difficult to predict who might like this film, maybe few jilted romeos who were betrayed in love or scant dieheart Shahid fans.

Story is not overwhelming and doesn't reach the expectations.so final call is yours!
