Yesturday I watched a movie Kadvi Hawa in theatre.Talking about the movie, Kadvi Hawa talks about global warming and the impact it had on people in general, farmers in particular.The farmers are in a very critical condition because at one side they have taken loans and that too with heavy interests.They don’t have money to repay their loans to the banks and also on the other side because there crops are destroyed because of global warming.So Kadvi Hawa is a story of an old man Hedu, who is blind.So he lives in a drought ridden place in Rajasthan with his family.He lives in the fear of his son Mukund commiting suicide in the face of back-breaking debt.The other main character of the story is Gunu Babu.He is a loan recovery agent who visits Hedu’s village annually for recovery of loan from poor farmers.Tum jab bhi aate ho 4-5 logo ki zindagi saath le kar jate hoHedu says to Gunu Babu explaining that why the agent has earned the tag of God of Death.Gunu babu is not as black as the villagers think.He is batling his personal demons too.After loosing his father and house in a cyclone in Odisha, he wants to earn enough commission and bring his family away from the flood prone village.And the best part is that his choice of place for resettling his family is in Hedu’s village because it gets no rain.Both of them enter into an unholy alliance to save their families.The old man provides vital information about the farmers to help the loan recovery agent to extract maximum money from them.In return, the commission Hedu gets from Guru Babu is credited to his son’s account.So as the movie progress we’ll be able to whether the deal hepls them in saving their families or it destroys them altogether.
Talking about performance, Sanjai Mishra as an blind old man has done tremendous job in playing his character.Ranvir Shorey as loan recovery agent has also done great in the movie.
Talking about the songs, the songs were quite dark which goes along with the movie very well.There’s no bollywood masala song in the movie.All songs are more of sadness.
Talking about cinematography, the director Nila Matha Panda has done decent job in terms of direction.The screenplay of the movie was quite slow.
But all and all Kadvi Hawa is a decent movie to watch as it addresses the most important topic of todays world i.e climate change.
