Another soap in the list of Ekta Kapoor?s sagas, the serial is inspired from the Jane Austen classic ?Pride & Prejudice?.
The story is about Kashish, who is the eldest among her 5 sisters (Wonder there were no family planning devices available) & the trials & tribulations that occur in her life due to her lovers, Sujal Garewal & Piyush Raheja.
Like in all other Ekta?s soaps, lovers never meet & the same thing occurs here, as Kashish & Sujal don?t get married.
Instead Kashish marries Piyush & then all hell breaks down, as Sujal turns baddy.
The side plot in the story is Kashish?s mother ? in ? law, Vasundhara (depicted in skimpy blouses & bird nest haircut) who is the negative character in the story.
Another negative character is Rishi, Sujal?s younger brother, who impregnates Kashish?s sister Mahek & is now setting to destroy Mouli?s life (Mouli is also Kashish?s sister).
The worse thing is that Mouli is so BLIND & DUMB in Rishi?s love that she does not even believe Mahek?s trauma.
An ironical thing is also that Rishi was nominated as the Favourite Devar in Star Parivaar Awards.
I wonder that how the Star personnel could nominate & award such a negative character as Favourite Devar & Please tell me which Bhabhi would want a Devar like Rishi?
The best part of the story is that unlike other Ekta?s soaps wherein the dead body is either not available or the face is badly burnt / scarred, Piyush?s dead body was shown along with his face, so that there is no returning of a dead Piyush. (Remember Mihir in Kyunki)
The usual events in the soap include: Bungalows, Chic outfits, Litres of glycerine, Hell bent revenge, Interruption by Hindi movie songs & Business losses in crores of rupees.
Cast: Aamna Shariff is Kashish, Rajeev Khandelwal is Sujal & Rohit Bakshi is Piyush.
Current scenario:
The widow Kashish is thinking about her future, while Sujal proposes her for marriage, the day Piyush?s funeral is held.
Mahek is married to Piyush?s brother Varun & now they are living with Mahek?s child, whose father is Rishi.
The serial depicts that unmarried mothers can easily stay in the society without abortion& get married to a Good Samaritan (Akin to Kya Kehna), though this really occurs in real life.
Performances:
Aamna portrays the role of Kashish to a T, except for her endless crying.
Rajeev is excellent as Sujal, since his expressions & love for Kashish, appear true to life.
Also, Aamna & Rajeev won the Favourite Jodi award at the Star Parivaar Awards 2004.
The serial had few intimate scenes between Aamna & Rajeev, during the first few episodes.
