Kaho Naa Hrithik Hai

There are movies which star debutants and becomes a superhit, and then there are other movies which stars debutants which flops and then the stars are nowhere to be seen, unless they have links in the Industry. Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai belongs to the first one. Starring two debutants, Hrithik Roshan and Amisha Patel, it is no easy job to pull in the crowds, but that is exactly what this movie did.

Rohit (Hrithik) wants to become a singer. He works as a car salesman. He falls in love with Sonia (Amisha Patel) a daughter of a rich businessman, Saxena (Anupam Kher). Obviously, rich papa does not agree with this match. Rohit tries to become a superstar. On the day of his big show, he witnesses the murder of the commisioner of Police by two two police officers and Malik (Dalip Tahil), Saxena’s friend. They see Rohit and murder him.

Sonia is distraught, and his sent to New Zealand to love with her cousin. There she sees Raj (Hrithik), who looks exactly like Rohit. He is completely opposite to Rohit. Sonia tries to find out more about Raj.

The Music is superb by Rajesh Roshan. Ek Pal Ka Jeena is the best track, and is the best shot. Chand Sitare and Na Tum Jaano Na Hum are also good and well shot.

The locales of New Zealand are captured beautifully. The Choreography by Farah Khan is excellent.

Hrithik Roshan was outstanding. The best performance of 2000. He was better as Rohit than Raj, but for a debut performance, he was absolutely outstanding. His dancing, as we all know is terrific. He deserved all the accolades.

Amisha Patel did well for her debut performance. The only thing about her performance was that her voice was dubbed. otherwise her performance was strong.

The supporting cast left a mark, especially Satish Shah, Farida Jalal and Anupam Kher.

This movie is strongly reccomended.

The birth of a Megastar, Hrithik Roshan.
