Sonys Kaisa Ye Pyaar Hai works only because of three things.....the glossy-packaging.....Iqbal Khan(Angad)...and the scintillating chemistry of the lead couple Angad-Kripa.
The story revolves around Angad-Kripas turbulent and passionate love-saga. Angad is the typical spoilt brattish rockstar whose life takes a turn when a strong and sensitive girl, who is the daughter of his fathers friend comes in his life. Kripa has always been in love with him and aims to be a singing sensation like him someday. Initial irritation and hatred blossoms into undying and true love of a rare kind. They meet, they separate...to meet again.Other people fall in love with Angad and Kripa but both of them cant see beyond each other, neither in love nor in hatred.
Okay, now. KYPH is typical Ekta-stuff with all the cliches and beaten tracks...dysfunctional families, Pre-Marital sex, unwed motherhood etc etc etc....and yet this love-story sails through and is watchable. Iqbal Khan is brilliant as the unpredictable Angad and it seems the role was written for him.Neha was awkward in the initial episodes but has improved a lot lately on her acting skills.
Basically, its the chemical equation between Angad-Kripa and their lovely scenes together which keep me hooked to the soap.I dont watch any other K-soap but cant get rid of KYPH.
Rest of the cast is adequate but Maya Alagh, Amit Tandon and Manasi deserve special mention. Maya Alagh plays Angads new-age grandmother who stands by right. Amit (Indian Idol finalist) plays Kripas best friend who loves her and is her support system. Manasi(Monalika of KGGK) plays Aaliyah, Angads cousin sister who is his confidante.
The soap is 6.5/10.
Watch it only for Angad-Kripa chemistry and Angads brilliant acting.
