Guess its a bit late to write a review on the album .. lots of reviews already on air.. but guess I could not resist penning one more
well for starters this album has 6 neatly composed songs (5 actually if you dont consider the sad version separately). yes its just 6! but they are there to be cherished. with a yash johar banner, shah rukh and preity in lead roles and javed akhtar for support, the trio of shankar, ehsaan & loy were always expected to deliver a chartbuster... and how they come out with a winner all the way!! from the composers of gems like mission kashmir and dil chahta hai (armaan and ek aur ek gyarah are forgiven), this one too is right there in the league.
i will review each song in my order of preference:
- kuch to hua hai
my list starts off with a bouncer.. howz that?? well I am sure most would disagree to rate this song as the best.. but for me this track is the one I cant stop listening to. soft tune, well rendered by shaan and alka. the appeal of this song for me lies in its https://lyrics. nothing complicated.. nothing over-glorified. with lyrics like cheez mein rakh ke bhul jati hun aaina ho to dekh leta hun.. it is one where I could relate to.. sure most of the people out there can surely relate to this feeling of falling in love or having a strong crush for the very first time
- kal ho naa ho
a yash chopra, yash johar stable song. sonu provides great voice to this philosophically inspiring song. anyone familiar with bollywood can guess.. this is a chart-topper from the word go. lovely song
the sad version also delivers the effect well.
- pretty woman
well if the track title seems familiar.. the tune should too. something that can be truly called inspiration (anu, r u listening?). the popular roy orbison ost set to bhangra beats, this makes an interesting hearing. probably would set a trend for some more of the genre. shankar mahadevan lets his voice flow.
4 maahi ve
well if this track title too sounds familiar .. dont jump .. it has nothing to do with the kaante hit. its more of the sona-sona, shava-shava style of punjabi dance number. songs of this kind seem to have become quite frequent these days and 5 yrs down the line may be difficult to distinguish from each other. nonetheless a decent dance track.
5 its the time to disco
this song tries to recreate the 80s disco feel. but sadly fails to lift the spirits up. might at best make ur feet tap but nothing of a lingering effect which the other songs mentioned above create. singers of calibre like shaan and kay kay add a bit life to this otherwise dull track. nothing more than an average rating for this particular song.
on the whole, an excellent album which more than lives up to the expectations.
would surely recommend to all. has a strong repeat-value as well
