This is in lieu with Sanjana Raghuvanshi’s article regarding singer Sarita Subramanian. I completely agree with her that she is a wonderful singer with a melodious voice. I have had the wonderful opportunity to hear her recently at a music concert in Mumbai’s Shanmukhananda Hall. She stole everyone’s heart with her fabulous rendition of ‘Ek radha ek meera ‘ from the film Ram Teri Ganga Maili and ‘ Hoton pe aisi baat ‘ from Jewel Thief. The talented girl invests right amount of feelings and expressions in her singing and interestingly for her age she has a vast repertoire of vintage songs from the golden period of Hindi film music. She also has the privelage of performing in the presence of legendary figures like Anil Biswas, Naushad, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Ravi, Khayyam, Ameen Sayani. It’s a great pleasure listening to Lata Mangeshkar gems like Aayega aanewala, Khat thi hai ab toh zindagi, Mushkil hai bahut mushkil, Saajan ki galiyan, Rooth ke tum toh chal diye, Jab raat nahin khat thi, Uthaye ja unke sitam, Chand phir nikhla, Yeh sham ki tanhaiyan, Zulmi sang aankh ladi re, Yun hasraton ke daag, Raina beeti jaye, Na jiya laga na from her. She is sure to go places !
