Kalinga Hospital is again a third-rate hospital in Bhubaneswar. It’s okay only for minor operations for which you get corporate referrals/ funding(if you are a PSU employee) and reimbursement if you have health insurance plans. But there is lot of harassment and wastage of time there. The doctors hardly visit the wards and advise over phone only. In most cases, they never come at all. Worse, the junior doctors(except Dr. Lipee Murmu and a few others), nurses and para-medical staff are grossly incompetent to attend the patients and handle the cases. They can carry out mindless rituals only, like forcibly waking up a patient at 6 pm and giving medicines even when the patient is fast asleep. They are only concerned about finishing their duties and while away rest of the time. There is inordinate delay in everything, even for a glass of water or milk for patients who are on liquid diet. They provide frugal meals but will take away the trays within 10 mins whether you eat or not. The staff partake the meals among themselves. Most of the patients go hungry and the staff don’t care about it. Some nurses are ill-mannered and incompetent. They don’t even know how to dismantle the support rails of the beds. They don’t care to check when the saline is going empty and you have to call them again and again in panic.
The actual doctors who handle the case never turn up. Their third-line assistants come on their behalf after frantic calling. Most of the patients lie in a neglected state. Therefore, most death cases are reported from this hospital. Most of the doctors have a totally indifferent attitude because the are attached with other hospitals and clinics. Notably, psychiatrist Dr. Jayprakash Russel Ravan whose behaviour is too rude, disappointing and shocking. The administration should take note of it. He’ll never respond and you’ll be forced to leave the hospital for good. He operates over phone only which this is not desirable in psychiatric cases. But when you call him up for some important advice, he’ll never respond. He doesn’t know the code of conduct and starts talking like a vegetable vendor when you seek advice on how to continue with a prescription. Kalinga Hospital, which claims "Compassionate Care for All" should avoid deploying such careless doctors in order to save its reputation. The worst victims of this hospital are those who get admitted in the wards for minor operations sponsored by corporate hoses. This hospital is grossly incompetent to handle any other cases. Many patients have narrated their nightmarish experience in this hospital including death of their kith and kin due to negligence.
This Amitav Rath is a dumb neurologist. A demon and a dalal in the guise of a doctor. He ill-treats all the patients including their attendants. He hardly visits the ward and talks as if the patients are a burden on him. He should be removed from the hospital immediately. When I sought a small information from him, he said, ’Don’t bore me. I’ve other things to do.’ My father was admitted and he was able to eat albeit slowly. But he forced a naso-gastric tubectomy(nose-feeding) on him and he had a near-death experience. He always wants to transfer the case to some other doctor(mostly the psychiatrist, who is again a dumb doctor) to relieve his burden. Without knowing anything and never going through the case history in detail, he calls it a case of pneumonia, catatonia(catatonic schizophrenia), etc. He should be sued for medical negligence.
