The name of Kalyan city has been mentioned in the history relating to Shivaji Maharaj. Its a city with rich past, promising present and a bright future. Here are few things which I think people must know.
#Travel- Just 50 km away from Mumbai Cst, being a junction, frequency of trains throughout the country and for local travel is superb. City has got a good access to highways to travel around.
#Health- 95% health issues will be solved in the city itself. We have hospitals which are affordable for all classes, and also many private clinics
#Education- Education upto 12th is of high standards. Municipalty, State board, cbse, etc. board schools, few junior colleges( Birla college), Coaching classes,
, etc . provide good facilities . Graduation colleges are also located nearby. Literacy rate of kalyan’s twin city Dombivli is( 90%+) which is among the top rates in the country.
#Lifestyle- In kalyan west slums are hardly present. Steps are being taken to eradicate the entire slum and provide a better living. The condition of roads is not great, but the corporation is working hard to construct better roads. Middle working class is in high numbers. But a new class has developed in the new areas, of people who are engaged in business. Don’t be surprised to see a fleet of luxury cars around the city. Mercedes, Bmw is a common sight.Property rates are lower than Mumbai, Thane. Common man can afford it.
#Safety- Its considerably safe. But beware of chain snatchers, pickpocketers especially in the railway station region. Its safe for women. Avoid going to lonely areas in night.
#Spots to visit- Durgadi fort, Kala talav( boating), kalyan creek, Metro junction mall, Few ancient temples in Tilak chowk, parnaka areas, churches on murbad road, Mosque near kala talav, etc. Autorickshaws are available. Horse-chariot ride( Tanga) is popular in old kalyan.
#Future- Kalyan-Dombivli are the cities listed in the Smart city campaign by the Government. Tall building projects, shopping malls, Fitness Clubs, Restaurants, etc. are increasing in numbers. Is a good alternative to Mumbai due to Mumbai’s exhorbitant property rates. One thing is sure, the city will be much better than it is today in coming years.
