Kam ya Jyada: 3 Crore ka thoda difficult vaada

Another game show, new rules, new rounds, new anchor and the prize money is 3 crore. What else can you think of in a game show when it has such a huge amount as the winning prize? But no, prize money is not the only thing which makes a show great; and this is the case with the new game show started on Zee TV from 12th December 2005, “Kam Ya Jyada”.

About the show:

The show started on Zee TV from 12th Dec 2005. It will be shown on from Monday to Wednesday at 10 PM. It will be a one hour game show which has only two possible answers to the questions asked. The answers can be either “KAM” or “JYADA”; you will be given a question in form of a statement which you have to decide fits in either “Kam” or “Jyada” category. Manoj Vajpeyi is the host n dost of this game show.

You can participate in the game show if you have Hutch connection or BSNL/MTNL connections.

Pratham Chkra (1st Round):

This is what Manoj calls it in pure Hindi; the round starts with 5 persons participating in the game and Manoj asking them 5 questions (one at a time) and they have to answer the questions in either “kam” or “Jyada”. They have 60 seconds for answering each question, the moment they answer the question, their remaining time out of 60 seconds is noted down and if their answer is correct, they get (remaining time) * 1000 rupees. (e.g. - If your remaining time is 58 seconds, you will win 58000 rupees). After the first rounds top 3 contestants go to second round.

Dwiteeya Chkra (2nd Round):

Second round starts with 3 persons dealing with 3 questions (one at a time) with the bidding option. If one contestant bids a question and he answers correctly, he gets the money; if he gives wrong answer, the bid amount is deducted from his balance. Most important feature of this round is “transferring the risk’ i.e. if the contestant does not know the answer, he can pass the question (risk of loosing money) on to some other contestant. The contestant with top most score moves to the third and final round.

Trateeya Chakra (3rd round):

Third round deals with only one person, but five questions (not like “Gabbar Singh” where there were 3 men and 3 bullets). The person has to answer these questions and later decide upon “how many answers did he actually give correctly”. Depending upon the number of questions the contestant has attempted correctly and his predictions of correct number of answers the prize money is given to the contestant. If one gives all 5 correct answers and predicts that he has given all 5 answers correctly, one gets the prize money of “3 Crore” and that’s really a huge amount.

Pros:

  1. Huge prize money.

  2. Easy entry thru 2 different service providers (Hutch and BSNL/MTNL)

  3. New rules, new rounds that seem to be interesting

  4. There are some prizes for the viewers also. (Ghar baithe jeeto inaam)

Cons:

  1. Manoj Vajpeyi is not very effective. (Considering the fact that people now compare every host of any game show with Amitabh Bachchan)

  2. Pace of the game is too slow (Pace of any game show is not absolute, its relative and when you compare it with a game show like KBC, you find it slow)

  3. The levels of questions are tougher (again based on comparison with other game shows) but can be said considerable since the prize money is also very high.

Overall a good game show with a real big amount as prize money. The things one needs is good general knowledge and a bit of fortune to get those 3 crores.
