Among the seven Shakti Peethas of India

The Kamakshi Temple is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Kamakshi, one of the forms of the goddess Parvati.  Godess parvati is seated in a majestic Padmasana posture signifying peace and prosperity, instead of the traditional standing pose like other temples.

The goddess holds a sugarcane bow and lotus and parrot in the lower two of her arms and has the two divine instruments Pasa and Angusa in her upper two arms.

Four worship services are offered each day.  Shakti Peethas are divine temples of Adiparashakti. The cause of the presence of Devi’s presence is due to the falling of body parts of the corpse of Sati Devi. The eyes & back of Sati Devi is believed to have fallen here. There are 51 Shakti Peeth linking to the 51 alphabets in Sanskrit.

Timing to visit the temple is 5 to 12 in morning and  4 to 9 in evening time. It’s llocated just at a distance of 1 km from the kanchipuram bus station.
