If you have ever seen any of Kamal Hassans films when he was still young, you will not respect him for what he has turned out to be.
Kamal Hassan 2004 is the hotkey for perversion.
I grew up on his films, saw some stellar performances of his -- apoorva ragangal, kalyana raman, guna, sippikul muthu -- and enjoyed his performances, nurtured a major crush on him through my teens. But now to sit through his films is sheer torture. His self-obsessed ramblings, haggard face with eye bags the size of kangaroos pouch, and most importantly -- his choice of heroines.
It is no longer talent or even looks that qualify them for lead roles, but their age. Younger (and more desperate) the better. Children young enough to be his daughter (or younger than Shruti his eldest one) have to suffer the old mans pawings and droolings. Apart from the fact that the parents of these children need to be booked for pimping, Kamal Hassan himself needs to be sued.
And seriously, he should stop folding up his dhoti/lungi in all his films. His fat white legs are not a visual treat, though obviously he thinks otherwise.
Slightly more appropriate roles please??? He is an obvious fan of Al Paccino, Robert DeNiro and Robin Williams -- all graceful agers. Time to take lessons from them on attitude and behaviour too...
The last film of his I saw was Virumaandi. Another younger pretty thing.
But the most appalling in recent times was Anbe Sivam. An enjoyable film, but for the flashback with Kiran (how old is she? 16?17???). It seemed incestuous -- a father molesting his daughter.
Why is it so difficult for Indian filmstars to age gracefully. Why cant they graduate to doing more appropriate roles. Kamal Hassan of the 80s and early 90s stood for brilliance. Kamal Hassan today stands for a vulgar old man.
