This is to bring your notice constant harassment and exploitation faced by dnb trainees at kamalnayan bajaj hospital aurangabad, Maharashtra . These students are working from 9 am to 8 pm everyday including Sundays without a holiday. Besides they have 1 icu night duty and a 24 hour casualty duty in a week.
thus they are working for 94 hours a week ( out of 168 possible hours ) recently they have been asked to do 2 additional night duties per week to look after patients in the wards of other specialties ( other than the specialty for which they are registered with dnb) they have also been asked to attend patients in casualty of other branches. Thus a resident getting training in surgery attends a patient of myocardium infarction (chest pain) . What a great patient care ? Previously bams and bhms doctors use to do this work .these doctors have left ( due to poor payment and harassment by CEO, Mr. Dube of hospital ) they had given 1 month notice to hospital before leaving as per the rule. Yet hospital ceo has not filled these vacancies and entrusted that work on dnb students. On protesting about this these students have been threatened to loose their registration and face consequences like ban in the entry to wards , library and ICU .
they have been also asked to return the keys of their rooms. Why these RMOs are leaving their job s? Is it because of filthy and unparliamentary language used by ceo? Does hospital supports the pressure tactics like threatening, abusing, blackmailing students by ceo / dnb -coordinator? To whom students should ask for help if their teachers refuse to take a proper stand in a bid to save their own skin ?
