→Arrows aimed at each other←

Archer’s two arrows Kane & Abel though directed at each other have immensely pierced my mind during reading days. This is the second of five books that have greatly influenced my thoughts.

→→→→→→→→→→→ Kane & Abel ←←←←←←←←←←←←

Jeffrey Archer’s ultimate book on two lives which are born in two corners of the world in two contrasting styles gives you an in depth understanding of what is life all about and how we move up the rungs of the ladder to reach a helm where both these individuals so contrasting from each other are brought up against each other in a manner which only Archer can narrate, in a manner only Archer can educate and in a manner only Archer can promulgate.

William Kane is born to a wealthy family from Boston and grows up in high social strata.Kane grows up in style and achieves glory after glory and he makes you feel that you should live like him.

Abel Rosnovsky is born in Poland in the most grueling fashion to an unmarried mother who dies when delivering him in the forest and the Author keeps you nerve tagged whether this child survives. He makes him survive and makes him grow in with all the pain and ordeal in life which a poor young boy can face and when he arrives in U.S he arrives with lot of hope and dreams which young people had about the States in those days.

Archer’s plot: Archer takes you into twirls of imagination sketching both of them one after the other as if you are reading two different stories and the way he brings them up one against the other and the way he makes you think about all the suspense as to how each of them deal with the other’s animosity is really spell binding and you will end up with so many emotions and once you have finished that it takes weeks to come out of the thought of this book.

Though I read the book many years back, the characters are still etched and the true nuances of Archer’s narration of Immigrant’s struggle in US came to the fore when I visited the country and understood how people come there with hopes and dreams and how they end up with something else much lesser and their struggle for life is worth thinking about. In the case of Abel, Archer has made him an Immigrant hero who not only dares to set foot on that soil (In the early part of 20th Century) but also grows up to become a leading Hotelier in United States.

Though they both help each other unknowingly, they are up against each other in-spite of their loved ones loving each other which brings twist to this tale for another great sequel ’’ The Prodigal Daughter’’ .You are made to watch them play like a tennis match, but with you longing for both knowing pretty well that both are not going to win this game.

There are two very trivial aspects of the book.

→Through diligent effort and hard work, Abel’s story tells us what we can achieve in other soil (America in this case) and the work ethic being the most important factor for success in life irrespective of how you are born and from where you come from.

→What will be the ultimate result when two people fight with each other to the hilt even if they are both individually good people and any war path between individuals or Countries can only result in destruction?

For an avid reader of novels, this book is the most wonderfully narrated novel.

For somebody who is just a Young adult, it is a book of learning curve for Struggle and Success in life.

For a grown up adult, it is a reflection of their young age.

I have gone through mixed situation of Kane and Abel in life and I am sure most of you will feel that when you start tasting success in life and if you have read this book.
