Kanika is a revege horror film directed by pushkar manohar and sharad pokshe is starring lead role . this is a after long time marathi film with great plot.
Dr. Pradhan is the best in his field, but he
is also a shrewd businessman who doesn’t
compromise on money. Unknowingly, this
attitude takes him on the path of crime
and his karma comes back to bite him in
the form of Kanika, an apparition he keeps
encountering. Who is Kanika? Pradhan
doesn’t remember. It takes the death of his
business partner and colleague for
Pradhan to embark on a mission to
unearth the truth behind Kanika’s
appearance. And what resurfaces is the
doctor’s tainted past.
Kanika deals with the issue of female
foeticide but through a paranormal theme.
And director Pushkar Manohar needs a pat
on the back for handling such a sensitive
subject with the help of a not-so-
conventional genre. Performances from
Sharad Ponkshe and Smita Shewale are
worth appreciating, while the supporting
actors perform well too.
The film has the usual thrills and some do
manage to scare you. It is not so novel
when it comes to consistency in scare
tactics, though. If you have seenThe
Ring, Conjuring or the likes, this film
won’t necessarily scare you. It is neither
very strong technically(although the sound
department has done a good job). But
Kanika makes a point; a strong one at that.
For the effort, the team deserves kudos.
