Kannathhil Muthhamittal...When I announced that this was the name of the movie that I’m going to see all my relatives regarded me skeptically. As I am not very proficient in Tamil I was going to see this movie on the insistance of a friend of mine. Then an aunt of mine explained to me that the title means ’’ Kiss on the Cheek ’’. Now I was very skeptical bout the movie fearing that it was some semi-porn movie. But all my fears vanished with the opening scene of the movie. One word for the movie is ’’ FANTABULASTIC ’’. From the first part where Mani Ratnam potrays the plight of a newly wed couple in war-torn Sri Lanka ( played by Nandita Das and Srinivas ) to how Das abandons her new born baby girl is amazing. Then how this girl Amudha becomes the reason for the marriage of Simran and Madhavan and then goes to search for her real mother when she grows up. But what takes the cake is the ending scene which simply puts the seal of a hit on the movie.
Watch out for :
Amazing performances by the child artists, Madhavan and Nandita Das. Also it shard to believe that its the same Simran who tried her luck in Bollywood ’’ Tere Mere Sapne ’’. She’s matured and become a fine actress. The songs are amazing especially both versions of the title track and the song ’’vellai pookal’’ which is sung by the master rehman himself. Mani Ratnam has surpassed himself with this one. Get a Shut Eye when : I personally didn’t find a single dull moment in the movie. Picturization is superb and locales r mint fresh and u can almost smell the clean clear air. Watch With : Family, Loved Ones, Siblings, anybody. Try to take the whole city to watch it.
