Ok, so Kansas isnt really full of lions and tigers and bears, but there are lots of nice things to see and do. Im going to focus mostly on the Kansas City area since thats where I live now.
First let me start with an overview about Kansas as a state though. Its not a bad place to live and raise a family but its very, very flat. The eastern region of the state is more densely populated as opposed to out west.
Heres a short list of things that identify Kansas:
State Bird: Meadowlark
State Animal: Buffalo
State Reptile: Box Turtle
State Insect: Honeybee
State Tree: Cottonwood
State Flower: Sunflower
Now, back to Kansas City. We have The Plaza! A most exciting place to be, especially on Thanksgiving night. Every year on Thanksgiving evening they light up every building located on The Plaza. Its an utterly breathtaking show of lights and they remain lit through the holidays.
Hungry? We have TONS of places to eat. Any type of food...Italian, Mediterranean, Mexican, Bar-B-Que or almost any type of hamburger stand that you find most places. Theres fancy places for nice, quiet, romantic dinners and theres places to go for a wild and fun dinner with lots of loud music and upbeat people. Steak is almost guaranteed to be available on the menu at any establishment you choose to visit.
Got some extra money? We have riverboat casinos! (One of my favorite places to be! Shh! Dont tell anyone!) These are multi-level riverboats that are docked in moats on the Missouri River. Boats in Moats is what the local folks call them. There are some really nice eating places on these boats too.
Need clothes? We have lots of fabulous places to shop at. Theres Oak Park Mall, The Great Mall of the Great Plains and Metcalf South to name a few. Oak Park is really changing lately and getting some really high dollar stores in like Nordstroms. Theres also Dillards, JCPenney and everything in between.
I guess that about sums up the Kansas City area. The entire state is a nice place to come visit. We have hot summers and cold winters. Im not sure what the actual rainfall amounts are but it seems to be in sync with everything else. Most of the time anyway. :)

Have a great day!
