After hearing and reading reviews of the Kannada Film " Kantara", we watched it yesterday in its dubbed Malayalam avatar. Believe it or not, it took our breath away.
A fictional story, inspired by the relationship shared between forests and human beings has been deftly created to give us a visual treat, breathtaking performance, and a wonderful lesson for all thatnothing belongs to you, it belongs to the almighty and when you try to take possession of it, the Gods wrath will perish you.
The heavenly messages are depicted in the form of Bhoota Kola, an animist form of worship widely practiced in coastal Karnataka. In this worship, the person performing the ritual temporarily becomes a God and answers peoples problems. The performance of this ritual(at the climax) by the lead actor Rishab Shetty will give you goosebumps. His transformation from a human to a demigod is worth the value of the ticket. He deserves a National Award.
The first half drags but was necessary to establish the plot. The climax is just unbelievable. Kantara is gripping and a thrilling experience.
