Triveni Sangam

This is my first review in MS. My KK trip was very recent and have wonderful memories of it. It is very easy to go KK from Chennai in overnite train KanyaKumari Exp. We reached there early morning around 6.15 am and headed towards Vivekananda Kendram. We booked room there thru telephone , it is quite cheap and environment was quite calm n quite.

After we freshen up we board Kendra Bus which is a free ride to go KK main hub which is just 1.5 Km or 2 Km away from Kendra.

If you have KK map with you , download it from site. It is very helpful if you have all information b4 u go to any place. I downloaded all information about KK from tamilnadutourism.org site. After reaching main hub , we head for Jetty which is just 100 m away and board a Jetty for Vivekanda Memorial, they charge you Rs 20 pp.

Reach Vivekanda Memorial(Rock) you can enjoy all the sea breeze and lovely mandapam they built there. On Rock there is Vivekanda Statue , a mediatation hall and Kumari amman foot prints is there. Entry fees in memorial Rs. 10 pp.

From there u board again the jetty and reach to a statue of Thiruvalluvar built in near by rock, spend some time and again back to mainland thru same jetty.

Kumari Temple is very near to Jetty Stand so you can walk just another 200 mts and go n visit Kumari Temple. Temple close by 12.30 and again opens around 4.00 pm.

You have to remove your shirt and banian before you enter.

After visiting temple go to Gandhi memorial and Triveni sangam where all three sea meets, spend quality time. You can visit gungananthan temple which is 1000 yrs old and near railway station.

Once coming back to Kendra ( you can catch Kendra Bus) and go thru Vivekananda Ashram. Nice place to stroll around. Morning you can go to private beach of the asharam and see sunrise. It is good if you book a tourist taxi (Rs 1000 max) and go around the near by places. I booked a tourist taxi went to see Suchindram Temple (beautiful temple), Nagercoil Nagaraja Temple, Adi Keshavan Temple( Very nice and worth seeing), Falls, Padnabhapuram Palace, Udaigiri Fort, Hanging Bridge (near to Kerala border and very beautiful sight) and Vattakotai Fort. We started around 7.30 morning and came back around 3.30. Took a rest around 1 hr and head for KK station to board train to Chennai.

If you can stay one more day you can hire a cab again and visit Kovalam and Thiruvanthpuram(Trivandrum) which is 65Km from KK.

I enjoyed my trip and hopefully this review will help you people if you plan a trip for KanyaKumari(KK).
