I watched this movie on Sunday afternoon at INOX. I actually felt relieved because I managed to get cheap tickets for this movie, just 160/-.
First let me tell the basic plot of this movie:-
(SPOILER ALERT)
Its a typical family drama, where two brothers(Siddharth Malhotra & Fawad Khan) have disputes in between them, their father(Rajat Kapoor) cheats on their mother(Ratna Pathak)(dies eventually), a grandfather(Rishi Kapoor) who outlives his son in hope of dying soon, a chacha-chachi and their family who just have to make an appearance and then there is this hot girl(Alia Bhatt) from Mumbai who comes to Conor to sell her property.
Story line is the same old same old version of Karan Johar movies(producer is Dharma production). Grandfather gets heart attack, to grandchildren Arjun and Rahul come to visit him, meet Tia and story progresses with lots of family quarrel, where in you get the feel like you are watching Ekta Kapoors daily soap only on bigger screen and which is bound to end in 3hrs unlike continuing years. Where Rahul is a perfect child, Arjun keeps on trying to compete with his brother to get his parents attention. In this time he gets along with his old buddy and goes to a party to meet Tia and then comes the songChul(one of the best sequence of whole movie). Tia meet Rahul, kisses him but doesnt tell Arjun and you can understand where Im going.
Now comes the acting part. Gotta give it to Rishi Kapoor, hands down he was the best actor in the movie. He did full justice to his character(a tharki, comedy, loving and amazingdadu). I was really surprised by the acting of Alia Bhatt, she will go long way in this industry and is a rising star which other actresses should look out for and she was gorgeous throughout the movie. Fawad Khan also impressed me with his acting and show of emotions. Rajat Kapoor and Ratna Pathak were brilliant too in the movie. But then there was Siddharth Kapoor in the movie who was struggling to get his acts together. There were scenes where he was completely off as an actor and kinda spoiled the scene like when Alia tells him about the death of his parents, his reaction was literally like he would burst out in laughter.
All in all the movie was good in first half but the second half was like watching a serial with my mummy(though my mom wasnt there). If you still decide to go to theatre then youre gonna enjoy the comic dialogues of Rishi Kapoor and gorgious of Alia Bhatt. But if you are going in for the story, Id seriously recommend wait till it comes on Colors(its official partner), I really doubt itll be more than 2-3 months.
