This is a review for the Cake that we had ordered for a occasion recently. My sister and Jiju ordered a Strawberry cake (4.5kgs) for a family occasion on 01 February 2014 after having tried out the sample at the Secunderabad branch. My sister was assured of the cake being made exactly the same way with the topping and the sauce and Pomegranate seeds.
What we had to accept was no way near the cake that was ordered, and this was pointed out to the staff while making the full payment and delivery. None of the staff had a clue and they were just saying this is the strawberry cake that was ordered. We had no choice as it was getting late but the entire episode spoilt the mood of everyone.
The owner’s son who was at the counter just volunteered to get the cake delivered next door to Taj Tristar without a word about the shortcomings. I took up this matter within two days with the elderly Anil Lalwani who was present at the secunderabad branch. After about 15 minutes of inquiring about what went wrong, he wanted proof of the cake being not as ordered and hence I emailed the pics and the details to him.
He kept saying " jo hogaya woh ho gaya." what rubbish replies! How can they call themselves the best in town? It has been two months and there is no reply to my email and I am quite sure, I wont be getting any.
For all the fans of Karachi Bakery out there, please think many times before you place an order for any of their cakes. They are not of the same quality of their biscuits and it would be a total waste of money and flared tempers to boot.
