If I have to choose my favorite from the past few decades. well I would say.
60s- Late Shri Raj Kapoor
70s- Mr Yash Chopra
80s- Undoubtedly Mr Subhash Ghai
90s- difficult to choose one. but Yashji, Subhashji, Sooraj Barjatya and Aditya chopra.
and the one director that owns the first decade of the new millennium. KARAN JOHAR
Yes, well I know some of you will disagree with me on this, but he is the best director we have today. Just think for a minute. we all loved Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. So we all went to see K3G 1st day 1st show. fair enough. some of us didn’t like K3G that much. still when Kal Ho Naa Ho released we packed the theaters with our presence again. Why?
Because somewhere we knew that he is a talented person and if he has written it, it must be good. we all love KHNH. so it was natural for us all t see Kaal. well, most of us were disappointed. still we waited to see his 3rd directorial venture. And boy did Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehena made money! it was a super hit, showing no matter whatever we say about Karan Johar, no matter how many stars we give him on mouthshut, we all go and see his films in the theater.The kind of money his films earn show how much people want to see his movies.
And as far as his talent is concerned, well he is talented. He is a director that works on his film’s minutest details. like from where the light will fall o his actors face and to what extent will it illuminate his face, and like what are the things in the frame, and what purpose are they serving.
Also, he is a very fine human being. I am a film student and have met him. And the warmth with which he meets people and the way he treats them is inexpressible. There are people who always try to pull him down, but the fact of life is that people only throw stones on a tree that is full of fruits.
Karan Johar Rocks. And he always will.
