I urge everyone who intends to purchase any Karbonn range of products to desist from wasting your hard earned money. If you get tempted by its price and style, you will have to regret later. While purchasing it, the mobile showroom sales person had actually warned me that this brand invites trouble. I thought it was his ploy to discourage me from buying this brand as he had earlier spent half an hour recommending me to purchase Samsung Ace or Sony Xperia. Within two days of purchase of Karbonn A7, I realized that the camera and screen was not rotating.
While music was audible in the ear phone provided, was not able to hear anything when a call was connected. The phone initially had the problem of getting switched off abruptly too. Two times, the software was re-loaded. Two months back, while using the USB cable with my laptop, a message popped up saying ’power surge’ and got re-booted.
Followed by this, the on/off button on top of the handset slid little inside suddenly forcing me to apply extra pressure each time to switch on the handset. It is less than a year since I bought this phone but the battery charge does not last for more than half a day. I contacted their service center who asked me to leave the handset with them for two weeks but as I refused, they told me to contact after 2 weeks.
Since then, I was contacting the ASM, their Delhi office, Bangalore office etc. umpteen times and each time, each person gave different stories and assurances. The mails sent to the email ids given in their website either got bounced or got no response in spite of sending several mails. Finally, their Bangalore office person sent the spare part extracted from another instrument to their regional service center but it was not suiting my handset. The technician did some adjustments to make the handset work better.
How many days it will work, only God will be knowing. Having used Samsung and Sony brands before and experiencing superior performance and after-sales-service, I warn everyone not to get carried away by cheap, Chinese made brands. As long it works, it’s fine. The day it gives trouble, your nightmare begins.
