There is not a lot of info available on this phone on the net apart from the tech specs which is just copied over from the karbonn website.
I have been using Reliance CDMA for the last 4 - 5 years and have given my number at a lot of places, so I was not just ready to get rid of this number but at the same time there are a lot of competitive rates available from other providers and also I was getting a company sim for which I did not have to pay any rental. So began my quest for a dual sim mobile which can do GSM and CDMA at the same time.
I was able to find 4 handsets from the net which does not have IMEI problems with 1 year warranty from the vendor. All of these handsets are Chinese and are rebranded and sold in India. The four sets are
FLY - Not available any more
Micromax GC255 - Costs approx Rs 4800/- at Bangalore
- Stylish looks but overall feels very flimsy especially keypad
Spice D88 - Chinese set rebranded by Spice
Karbonn KC441 - Approx 5000/-
I am not really interested in any of the additions which come with the sets like camera, radio, java support etc . But this phone is loaded with most of this stuff not really sure about java though.
The process for transferring your Reliance connection to a CDMA sim is
a) Get an empty Reliance CDMA sim
b) the contacts which is on the reliance phone will not be transferred to sim, it has to be done
manually
c) Take the empty sim, dual-sim phone and the reliance phone to any webworld
d) the reliance folks will do their magic and it happened for me in about 15 mins(YMMV)
As of now the phone is doing its job pretty well.
