Bought this Karbonn Smart Tab 8 last week as my Kindle Fire Screwed up. It sounds odd because downgrade always feels bad. Lack of proper budget this was my only option. After using Kindle Fire for almost 1 year I have been addicted for watching movies and some personal stuff, so I badly needed a tablet for my work to continue, finally with friend’s suggestion, some research and bad budget landed me on Karbonn Smart Tab 8. To be frank at this price point Karbonn must be applauded, they did a great work since Micromax gave them a tough competition.
Coming to the tablet, Im impressed with its aggressive performance at such a price point. Please refer to the specifications tab above listed. Will share my experience on this great tablet.
Considering the price 6, 000 INR listed in (Flipkart) the specs provided are real monster, Dual core processor and 1 GB Ram brings a great experience in this tab.
While other manufactures pack Android ICS or older versions, Karbonn anyhow managed with Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 version, which is the most used android version as of current market. Even though it is a stock Google android without any customizations it’s very buttery smooth.
It has an internal storage of around 8gb in which 1.5gb is used for apps and the remaining for data storage. 1.5 GB is more than enough for installing around 25-30 applications from play store. (Excluding games)
Battery backup is almost great even when I watch 720p hd movies it lasts for around 4-5 hours. 4500 mah huge battery is definitely a big advantage for this tab. With normal usage it lasts for 2 days as there is no SIM option.
USB OTG Connection makes this tablet complete. This tremendous feature of connecting pen drive via otg cable has been introduced recently in all androids. With this we can browse files or any stuff present in pen drive and can be accessed directly. (Cable Provided)
8 inch screen makes this tablet a square shape which I prefer over the 7 inch rectangular, watching movies in 1024x768 resolution gives enhanced experience, though TFT screen clarity is not that great.
HDMI output is another added advantage to this tab, I use this rarely but whenever our family members gather at one place I connect to my LED TV with HDMI to browse pictures and watching movies.
Games like TempleRun2, Sky Safari and Subway Surfers run flawlessly.
It has an added advantage of 1 year warranty by Karbonn.
As every product has its pros and cons it has got some problems too, but not to forget its price range, for me these cons are not that much concerned.
Here are the cons list.
It has 3.15mp camera and vga front facing, they take good pictures. When you watch them on tablet they look nice, but when you compare them with other competitors or else when you watch the photos in TV they look very bad.
Earphones provided were very cheap, I have thrown them away and using Philips Headphones.
No GPS for Navigation (Tried with Dongle).
Full Charge from 0 to 100% takes around 5-6 hours which is very high compared to others.
I would recommend this only for those who are looking for an average performer at cheap price. This tab would nicely suit for parents who want to buy for their children.
Karbonn Smart Tab 8 is available for 6000 Rupees at Flipkart. Now Choice is yours depending on your likes and dislikes. If you like my review please rate it.
Thank you.
