B grade trash!

Rajeev Babbar has tackled various c grade film in the past with Mithun Chakravarty in practically every genre. Now, perhaps, joining the wave of ’skin show’ flicks, he comes up with Kasak. Nothing wrong with following a trend, but too much of anything is bad and same applies to this unfulfilled desire called Kasakk.

One doesn’t mind skin flicks or sex-laden scenes as long as the director films it aesthetically, but the way director Rajeev Babbar displays the Meera’s anatomy, it’s distasteful, vulgar and appalling.

Lucky Ali is a simple, down-to-earth person, serving his mother suffering from diabetes, day and night. He soon becomes a specialist of sorts in the field of treating people with this ailment. After the death of his mother, the only goal in his life was to give love and serve others. Serving as male nurse in Gayatri Devi Diabetic center, his life revolves around the happiness and laughter of the patients. He laughs with them, cries with them, and tries to rob them of their tears to give them their laughter back. Meera is also working at the same Diabetic center. Meera is an ambitious, who believes in having the best in life by hook or by crook and wants to reach for the skies in the shortest way possible. They are poles apart.but they lose its identity in its love, such is the relationship developing between Mira and Lucky. The only feeling left in him is that of pain as he was so close to getting what he wanted but eventually loses it. Do they actually meet? Can there getting back together give a new definition of love? Who is right –Lucky, who believes that love can only happen if you give yourself to another completely, or Meera– who believes in focusing on love to achieve the desired life that she wants to live?

The first half is anything but exciting. It looks at the love affair, with skin show in generous doses. Unfortunately, the romance is so half-hearted that it fails to strike a chord. The vital sequence - Meera confronting Lucky well- although well executed, appears overdramatic. Another jarring aspect in the first half is the placement of songs, which appear after brief intervals.Director Rajeev Babbar tries hard to build up the suspense vis-a-vis Lucky and Meera’s characterisations, but the excitement in the second half diminishes as the drama unfolds. The post-interval portions are absolutely lacklustre and the climax is equally predictable.Court room drama is plain boring. In fact, the finale is not only predictable, but even its execution leaves a lot to be desired. The kissing scene between Meera and Lucky Ali was unnecessary .Meera’s behaviour at several junction remained unanswered till the very end!Why did she want to get rid of Lucky ali is not explained at all.

Is she a play girl or what?

Lucky Ali goes through his role without much of an effort. He is okay in parts, but dull most of the times. Meera does the dare-bare part without any apprehensions, but needs to go easy on her expressions at times. Production values are straight out of B grade movies . Music is nothing much to hum about.

dull!
