Kashid Confessions

How to get there?: Kashid lies at a distance of 30-35 kms. from Alibag. From Mumbai: Turn off the Mumbai-Goa highway after Pen (at a junction called Vadkal naka) and head towards Alibag. Just before reaching Alibag town, a road turns left towards Murud. Head down this road, pass through Revdanda village, across a creek to Korlai and from there, down the road to Kashid

Travel and living:

After going to goa earlier this year on a roadtrip 5 of us friends decided to go to Kashid. We decided to go there without any booking.I was a 3 hour drive for us ...we reached Kashid at 6 in the evening and were literally told to buzz off by the very rude receptionist at Kashid beach resort..and Prakriti hermitage was just too expensive for us.We stayed at Hotel sai palace which is just beside prakriti hermitage we got a g8 deal of Rs 1000 for 5 people for a night for a non AC room.there r other places u can check out like Seatouch cottage, Kashid sea face, Friends , Vishram cottage.Food is Damn expensive in kashid..a cup of tea is Rs 15..we actually had the luxury of a car so we had to drive 7 km to nearby Borli village and dine in a small hotel there...u get decent veg and non veg thalis there at a reasonable price.

Tip for boozers:

Booze is banned in Kashid it might be very difficult to get hold of booze unless u r in Kashid beach resort or Prakriti hermitage.Borli village once again is the answer to u r booze shortage

Paradise :

The beach in Kashid is beautiful to say the less but there are different strips of this beach, the resorts have their own section of the beach which is the most beautiful we avoided the public strip of the beach. We managed to sneak into Prakriti beach resorts private beach section it is very a very clean and peaceful section of Kashid where u wont be pestered by anybody. The water is very salty but there is an upside the sand does not stick to your body here in kashid so it saves you the irritating after swim shower where u have to spend 1/2 hour just removing the sand from your bath room.

Warning:

Beware of free mangoes because most of them are chemically treated one of my friends had a torrid time after feasting on these mangoes...we had to drive to borli village once again to get medicine for him. Power cuts are very frequent so think twice before spending on an AC room. The power cuts are long and mosquitoes are merciless in Kashid so please dont forget to carry a packet of tortoise coil. If u r expecting another Goa, Kashid is really not, you can call it a lazy getaway which is very close to Bombay. The actual public beach is really crowded on weekends so probably might remind you of juhu beach. Most hotels are located a bit far off from the beach , we had to drive to the beach.

Tips:

We even managed to squeeze in a trip to Murud which is just around 18 km from kashid.Try going to murud janjira in the morning - afternoon time then in the evening u can come to kashid have a dip in the ocean stay overnight and head back home by noon next day. If u have a car use it, because we travelled to and fro on a wagon-R with Ac on the full time and it still came to about Rs 800 per person inclusive of food and booze which is neat. If u dont have car and really short on budget ST bus from Mumbai Central/Thane/Panvel to murud goes Via Kashid so u can bring down your budget drastically. It is an ideal destination for couples who lead busy lives .

Will I go there once again?

Yes!but ...only for a day.
