It was our anniversary but I only had two days and I started browsing the net for a good beach to go. after lot of searching we narrowed down to alibaug or kashid. ;alibaug I had seen once so we opted for kashid. I had heard a lot of this place and so we ended up at kashid on a saturday afternoon.
kashid is 20 kms drive from alibaug and once you take wa left turn for kashid from revdanda you would have to pass thru a lot of small villages but then that in itself is a grt driving experience. once you cross the brodge and take a right from ispat, you would fine excellent road which is parallel to the sea and you get into the mood of kashid right then.
the only mistake we made is that we dint do advance bookings as we almost wasted two hours looking out for hotels or resorts that could give us a place to stay. luckily for us we got a room for a good deal and we managed to stay there. the room had a wonderful view and that adjusted our mood towards good for a small holiday.
the beach of kashid cannot be compared to alibaug as it is totally different. the water is very clear and you can go into the water for a swim till your neck. though there are stones in certain parts of the water the waves are not too big or small, they are good enough to swim or just float. but beware that swim only if you are a experienced swimmer as the tide tends to pull you inside the sea.
the sands are white and not dirty at all. whole of beach is bordered with trees and between the road and the beach there are small shacks run by the localites who serve you excellent and fresh veg and non veg food. you can opt for bhaji(onion pakoras) and tea which make a lethal and an excellent combination. there is lot of coconut water too and the localites have a good arrangement of jute swings tied between two trees and hordes of chairs and tables with an umbrella too, to escape the sun.
it is a good place to go for a one day picnic or a overnight stay provided you get a good accomodation.
kashid is a place which can be a choice for couples looking for some grt moments together away from hustle bustle of mumbai city.
