This is what is had to say reaching this beautiful piece of paradise and that to so close from bombay. I would like to keep this little secret beach to my self, its so well hidden if you intentionally dont want to reach this place you wont find it. but man if I cant reach goa I can settle for kashid. the beach is that good.
When to start the journey : early in the around 6.00 am . reach macdonalds by 7.00 grab a burger and fries. and then a non stop drive some 120 km to kashid.
Route :i stay in sion . I took the vashi route. but once I reached vashi I decided to travel via palm beach road .though its a long route I love to drive that way. From pen panvel we took the JNPT. road that took us straight to wadkhal naka .you have to be a little careful as this is a crossroad one which will take you to goa and the other to alibaug.
(trick 1!) follow the board of hermitage resorts they direct you to kashid beach . (thank you hermit)
The drive will take approximately 3 to 3 and a half hrs not more than that unless you are driving at 60 kmph.
(beware the road is too narrow and winding )but the road runs through a village and it has plantations of coconut and beetle nuts(supari)trees. its lovely .this village also has a weekly market I guess its on a saturday .so if you want to buy some dried fish this is the place to visit .also the prices for fresh fish are so unrealistic they are unheard of here in bombay .i got 8 pomfret for a meager 180 rupees and they were fresh and I mean real fresh though they were medium sized.we asked a local fisher lady to cook it for us she charged us a mear 80 or may be 90 bucks and we had piping hot pomfrets totaling 8 for under 260 rupees rice included !!! beat that.
Food: A big problem not if you are staying in a swanky resorts like kashid beach resort and others of the same caliber.though let me add (250 rupees per plate bufet its too expensive and very few options to select).totally not worth it. instead if you have your own vehicle travel some 18 kms to murud and visit "patils eataries"(khanawali)go for their fish thali which includes rice bread (rice bhakri ) though its in a spicer side you will love it .people with less tolerance to chilies beter avoid this place . if you are ready to travel back some 15 kms to revas there is a hotel called """Uday""" try their thalis and fish as well as chicken thali are heavily recommended.4 stars for the food though the ambience is not worth writing about .its a small eating joint but worth a visit.one thing has to be kept in mind though , if you are travelling in a big group you have to order your food in advance ot the restaurants will turn you away and the cause given is they are out of foood you should have ordered before???
And it really makes one angry espically when your stomach is grumbling for food. thats the annoying part.
on the beach: The beach makes for all these small inconvinences. though I would not recommens this beach for those inclined to swim once they see the surf .this beach have some real fast under current and add heavy slope and sand thats slips fast than you think makes a perfect setting for disaster. can enter the waters only till its up to knee high dont go over it or you will be in serious trouble. nice beach for those who like to go on a long stroll with their companions by their side and walk down in the sunset .It make for one romantic getaways as the beach is mostly isolted and no one to disturb the calm and peaceful , serene atmosphere whih can be described in only one word""""Kashid""" .you will love it.
