A beautiful speck of pure white sand beach about 5 km in between Alibaug and Murud.
A place not to be missed if one loves beaches and is in or around Mumbai / Pune.
About 200 Km from Pune with good road connectivity.
Take the expressway till Panvel exit and from Panvel take the Goa highway till Pen. Thereafter take the Alibaug road and from Alibaug the road towards Murud Janjira. The roads are good throughout unless you take the Pen exit from the expressway which is actually a test track for the Mars rover. No one bothered to relay it after the Mars expedition was successfully accomplished
There are a few places to stay however it is better to have a confirmed reservation. We stayed at the Prakrit Resort which is a beautiful place with its own private beach, nice & spacious rooms & cottages that are well maintained too. It has its own ool and play facilities and throws in a open-air discotheque in the weekends.
The food too is excellent although one would expect more of seafood which is oddly missing from the menu more oftne than not.
One could visit the nearby Ganpati temple as well as the Murud Janjira beach which are about 30 mins away. Overall, an excellent weekend getaway albeit a tad expensive (my experience).
