So the million dollar question which people were asking before the show
began was, "Will SRK live upto what Amitabh did with KBC"?
While this was the headline of every major newspaper that day (22nd Jan
to be precise), many had already dissed off poor SRK, without evn
giving him a chance - something which had happened before Dons release
too.
Another amusing part was people had forgotten this was actually a game show and participants answer questions and win money, what they were concerned with was the "performance" of the host.
This psychological advantage, to be frank had worked well in favour of Amitabh when he hosted KBC for the first time. People
had no expectations at all from him but Amitabh with his overbearing
persona and warmth and intelligence, won the hearts of Indians across
the globe. and the show became known as an intellectual show meant to
watch for obtaining knowledge and to some extent watching Amitabh mix
up with his contestants.
Now with SRK in the hot seat, all people seem to care about is how
pathetic or good SRK is, thereby keeping a lot of pressure on
this poor fellow. and despite being well aware of this fact, SRK has done a magnificient job as a host with the third outing of KBC.
Despite a shaky and insecure start (the first episode showed his
insecurity as many would agree), he came onto his own within 2 days.
His interaction with participants, making viewers laugh, pulling their
legs, his "haaziirjawabi" all makes up for an absoltely delighful watch.
One thing which also impressed me about him was the way he handled that haughty college lecturer who shocked people with her "Shahrukh mujhe aapko gale lagane ka koi shauk nahi hai".
Imagine sitting in front of such a lady while the whole world is
watching you. If I was in SRKs place, I would have perhaps insulted
her badly, but SRK immediately handled the situation brilliantly and
preferred to hug her mother instead and hand her the cheque instead.
That was indeed very well done by the host.
This is a family show where people can have a lot of fun, watching the King Khan entertain people with his charm n easy wit.
KBC was rocking. KBC 3 isnt far behind. Long Live the Shahenshah and our very own KING KHAN.
CHEERS!
