Most reviews are either Biased or have an neutral approach [which is appreciated]. You are presented with a case with enough dough for them to decide if one wants to Bash SRK or Defend him.The truth is that as a movie goer one could avoid SRK’s Movies but not now.AB made you like this show & a true KBC fan may take some tie to digest SRK’s sometimes Black humor.Becos KBC never had KBC fans they were all AB fans!
Mouthshut encourages product comparisons, from a consumer perspective they are always good.They make you more competetive and fine tune the choice by helping you understand the pros and cons of the product vis a vis another.In this case it is the same show being compared.The same product in almost the same format.The rules have hardly changed.So one is forced to compare the compering styles of both the entertainers
Here is my analysis on this
AB started with many advantages when he kick started the show.He had not done any TV earlier and his audience carried his filmi persona[read Vijay] in their mind.They were pleasently surprised and touched to find him to be a normal human being with his classy wit and sense of humor.His voice and pleasing manners added on as his strengths. AB [not Vijay] resurrected himself thanks to KBC and ever since then people have loved AB as much as they loved Vijay earlier . Moreover for the last decade or so, AB has been playing roles suiting AB & not Vijay.after all AB is a world class entertainer. On KBC, AB at times, was so humble, perhaps he faked or atleast one would tend to think so.AB made KBC popular and vice versa.While AB made good money hosting KBC media reported how he was also clearing up his loans and debts. This must have stengthened the respect for AB in the viewers minds to some extent.
SRK on the other hand, was a TV generation entertainer. he got into movies after a breif stint on TV.He was a struggler too & much later, after a series of hits, continues to enjoy the advantage of(almost over) exposure on TV. With his beaming positive energy, Wit and Humor, barring shades of Black humor in spurts now and then, he was perhaps the best bet available for KBC. He doesn’t have AB’s voice, Charisma and humility but nevertheless is an entertainer, and that too a highly paid one.But for SRK KBC will be the ultimate challenge more then any one of his movies and he is sure to pass off in flying colors.Dont forget that we are looking at India’s finest entertainer and someone quite professional too! But if SRK does not act natural and tries to behave as if he is acting in a movie even in KBC, then he may have to pack up very soon. The theme set by AB is to be natural on the show .In fact, On the first show SRK struggled the intial few moments but Found his groove very soon till the end of the episode.Don’t write him off so soon.He will stick around, but irritatingly.
The show will go on and so will SRK.while guys at Star will perhaps plan to relaunch AB in 2008 in kBC 4 just to win back the upset die hard audiences of AB.
