To tell the truth, I was reading the RVU of walking_dude on KBC3. What I fell is it is kind of RVU where that can be funny but will always remain far from the truth. I decided to post my views in the comments. But the comment was very long & the thoughts of my mind developed in a RVU shape. Then I thought, what the hell, I can post this as a RVU for all the MSians to read and maybe have a debate of my own.
You have to read the RVU to decide whether Mr. Dude is being fair on saying that “Metrosexual attack on Heterosexuals” or not. What I suggest is that public is the force that can destroy govt. in any election. No set of rule is applicable to the public. Say in the case of Salman Khan, who would have thought that his movies are going to be blockbusters(BB) especially after Aish case, deer case and drunken case, who could forget Vivek Oberoi case. But hey, movies like Tere Naam and Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya did turn the tables.
Same goes for SRK, his fans are HUGE. They will support him in what he does with loyalty & sincerity. Read some instances:
A bad man in Baazigar(50% bad), Anjaam(110% bad) & Darr(120% bad). Which cine star could afford to do that after the career has just picked the pace, but hey SRK was the man to do it & fans backed him
SRK did Devdas, competing with the tragic king was never going to be easy, but hey, he smashed the box office.
Don would never be a piece of cake, more because AB is still around and shining better then ever. Even I thought it to be below average after seeing the movie. But as destined, the man is not meant to fail, the movie grossed in home and also away.
SRK’s fan following in India is good, but at abroad, people are crazy for him. No wonder his movies, even 3rd class, are grossing$’s there. He left a mark of bollywood at international platform.
He would never compete with AB, but he wants to make a mark; that after so many years in the bollywood, he can do what no one else could do. Remember sawal 10 crore & chhappar phad ke. I bet he won’t fail this time too, like others have done and miserably.
Lastly, have u ever seen his shows in abroad. He connects to the audience, the thing he has done from the days of Circus, Fauji & Dusra Kewal(hope u remember). He calls a member from the audience and dances with them in his shows. Audience shouts & claps like crazy, hardly matters how the person dances, fact remains he is one of audience member i.e. one of them. There too, SRK would hug the person, gift an autographed jacket. Man, the experience for the person is for lifetime, and what more, he can show the gift from SRK to his relatives, friends and even the grand-children.
But now he has done the blunder, dare to touch AB’s show, the show that brought AB to his second and most successful innings in his life. But what will be SRK thinking, in the words of Mr. Bunty(Jr. B) “Sher ki gufa se niwala nahin khaya to kya kiya”. So SRK dares to do a mission impossible. The catch is AB’s Don released in 1978 and SRK’s in 2006. Therefore audience with 28 years memory had the comparison in mind. You can say in Devdas, the comparison of SRK with Dilip sahib was theoretical. But the real comparison is now, not even 2 years old memory of AB doing KBC and SRK is there in KBC3, telling people by hosting the same show, same rules and same prizes, not to think of AB but see SRK as a separate individual. The question is that 90% audience will be same people who loved the show KBC due to AB’s presence. How difficult road has SRK chosen now, I need not mention!
What do you think, AB would be happy that SRK is doing the show; just because he is not saying something, doesn’t mean that he has no complaints about it. Many are aware that AB had done KBC(1 & 2) for 40 lacs of rupees fees per episode. In order to increase the fees, maybe he declined to do the show. But the show must go on, SRK was chosen to do the job. Guess what would have hurt the most to AB, the per episode fees to SRK was raised to Rs. 70 lacs for 100+ episodes(if I remember correct).
*Now what,
***AB:** Well he being the cool & calm guy he has been as ever, will not raise or touch the controversy and will wish best of luck to SRK. He will be busy doing movies that are on the floor and will always be for him. Meanwhile, he can have a laugh while watching KBC3 with the family and remember his days.
*SRK: **He will try to leave no stone unturned and no trick undisplayed to live upto the task in hand and help his image and the trust of his audience and lastly of the produces.
*Producers of KBC: **They will try to sell the advertisement at record rates and will squeeze the money from any and all the sponsors of the show. Also, they have to learn to do their daily chores while fingers crossed.
*Audience: **Well, the people will relax and watch the bubbly actor doing the show in SRK istyle, trying hard not to copy AB. The comparisons will be there but it is the love & craze of SRK that will have them glued to the screen.
*My observation on KBC3:
*I was the second episode of the show. KBC3 is not just another show, an actor from small screen has returned after decades to the TV. The pressure was there, the nervousness was there and so were the expectations. But he carried the show very well. He made the contestant feel at home. He gave him memories to cherish and also his precious watch. He has done it not for the first time as I have explained earlier. What he has done in to make a connection with the public at large. He is now accessible to his fans, be them sitting at hot seat, sitting in faster finger first or as audience in the show & also at home. We can now see SRK, reality show istyle. He has a habit of gathering the audience and gluing them. Go for the show man, for SRK’s sake.
*The conclusion would be*
SRK is the only person in the world who can be trusted to do KBC3 by the producers. As audience also, we have to choose SRK if AB is not available. So the best approach should be to give time to SRK to let him prove is mettle and watch patiently. Even if the show is not upto the mark, his fans will give him all the TRP he need(like in Don).
