Here it is, 22nd Jan 07, time 9:00 p.m, Channel Star Plus and most of my colleagues waiting for the back with a bang SRK version of KBC. The promos, the teasers have been crafted well. The Ek Sahi Sawaal campaign has managed to generate a lot of interest. Which agency did it by the way?
Who will watch?
From my gut feeling, I think there are 4 types of audience that will watch it:
1.AB Fans
2.SRK Fans
3.SRK Haters
4.People with desire to compare AB and SRK
What is similar?
The game format is similar. The three lifelines are similar. The theme music is the same. The stage is the same. Prize money same.
Yet to discover are the following items, sponsors of the show, SRKs designer suit sponsor, Bank and the tone of the show in totality.
Whats going to be different is the way the show will move on. For the starters, the Blue logo for ABs KBC has been replaced by Red. May be the producers think SRK is Hot and AB was cool.
But, will the "Hot Seat" be referred to as the "Hot seat" by SRK? AB was in command of the show. People were in awe of him but respected. It was a dream come true for many to meet AB, their hero. SRK, I am sure doesnot want to emulate that. AB brought in his forteANGRY YOUNG MAN" tone to the show. SRK had skills in Romance, and hence in the promos he has a very friendly composure. But, dont trust me, this is is just from the promos. Will find out more, if I have a chance to watch it today.
The first participant of KBC, Prasenjit Sarkar, the 39-year-old inspector with Central Excise department in an interview to rediff.com has mentioned SRKs friendliness in the show.
There has not yet been much hype about SRK s suit and its designers.
Thats all I can think of about the show now. I think it is a welcome image change for SRK from his KANK performance and his futile attempt at aping AB in DON. By the way, I think he will be doing the same with this show. Another way to look at it is, with bouncy relationship with Chopras and no BIG film under his belt, the timing is right to be earning a secure hefty amount!
Way to go SRK!
