Saw the RTZ ad on TV and fell in love with it.(Oh , those days were just a couple of channels, and, a couple of bikes). There was the RX100, the KB100RTZ , Yezdi, Rajdoot and of course, the Bullet. I Wanted a bike that had the looks, decent mileage (it gave me 44 then in 95, still gives me 40), low maintenance, good pick up, not lightweight ( = better stability and handling), great brakes and a comfortable price tag. All these put together made me home in on the RTZ and nothing else would do, or be able to. 1995 to 2006, 11 years old and still going strong. Gives me immense thrill when leaving a pack of youngsters behind off from a red-turned-green-light, fumbling with their toy-like bikes out of video games. Having driven almost every bike on the road, I think I can boldly state that if I were to rank them across segments, it would be KB100RTZ, then the RX100, the Bullet and then, those others. in the present gen, I find just one that can give the KB a run for money, and thats Pulsar, again from the bajaj stables. (Of course I am not including the bikes that try to look like Harleys and cost about a lakh!) Just take it on a sandy or pebbled road...or even the beach, and you will know what I mean when I brag about its handling, braking and stability. No wonder Bajaj is where it is, and fast re-inventing its image as a bike-maker from a scooter-maker of yesteryears. Anyday, its KB100RTZ for me, which I continue to take on my sojourns with empty roads on early morns, when the Ford Ikon is fast asleep in my garage and I need some time with my first love. Yes, thats about the only moving thing which makes my wife envious, when I am with my KB. Mera bajaj!! You either have it, or you dont! Well, thats KB 100 RTZ for you, guys.
