I bet one who had driven Yamaha 100 would never lilke to drive KB125, simple reason - KB 125 dosent have the punch as that of yamaha !!!
I own a KB125. What I like most of the vehicle is its seating position and long chasis. Sitting position very straight. No leaning. Hence no back aches. I had some issues with theb ike initially which I will share with the readers.
Advantages: Straight sitting position, Long chasis, good looks
Disadvantages: Incosistent silencer firing. less mileage
I got my bike in Nov 1999. Unfortunately the very next year its production was stopped. Initially I had no issues with the vehicle performance. One day one of my friend visited me and he said the idling sounds different than expected. When I compared with other KB125 I realised that my friend was true. There was a seperate metal sound during idling. I took it to the dealer. He said that it will be taken care in the 1st serivicing. After the first service also the issue was not resolved. Second servicing time came. Again it was not resolved. Frustated by their weak response I wrote directly to Bajaj Auto in Pune. Within a week/10 days I got a call from dealer requesting me to take the vehicle to them for a detailed diagnosis. I refused as I was very angry with them. Then a telegram came from them requesting the same. I was surprised. I didnt heed to it. I was not aware that it was Bajaj’s action that prompted them to run after me to get the vehicle which even after 2 servicing also was not recetified. Then their district service manager called me and I explained him the details. He asked to get the vehicle near to a authorised service station near to my house, which I did. After hearing the sound, even he agreed that there is some issues with idling sound. He immediately took the vehicle to the service station and gave me the next day. The problem was solved. The problem was.... A nut had fallen into the clutch box which used to make the sound in idling position....
Bajaj has the rule to get the signed ’’satisfactory ’’ note from the customer which is infact with all the companies. I promptly gave the note as I was satisfied with the result.
Another problem I noticed with the vehicle is that the silencer firing is NOT AT ALL consistent. In case of Yamaha100 if there are 10 vehicles and if all of them are started, we cannot make out the sound difference BUT it is possible in case of KB125... If the same exercise is carried out for KB125 all the vehicle firing will be different, atleast 6-7 will have different firing sound. I had even pointed this to the dealer and he said that it is like that !!!!!!....
This shows that in many vehicle problem dosen’t solve if we are too humble with the dealer. In such cases write a note to the company and they will take care of it. After all the reputation the company is at stake
