I tried a single sitting of the under-arm laser epilation treatment from the HRBR branch of Kaya. This was a free session which I got as I was a member of some Titan Club.
Contrary to the claims of it being a pain less treatment, I found it so painful that I could not even get the second under-arm done and walked away.
After a month, I noticed that the under-arm growth of the lasered area was a lot less as compared to the other one. I decided to to brave one more under-arm session . This time when I went, I was told that they’ll first apply some local anaesthesia cream called Pryol or some such thing. After applying it I had to wait for around half an hour as the session rooms were occupied. But this waiting actually helped as this time the pain wasn’t so very much. Its still enough to make you want to cry out with pain at times but degrees lesser.
During the treatment this time, the attendant asked me if Pryol had been applied during my free trial session. Apparently, this is something they MUST do but for the free trial session, they very happily had left out this thing. Also during my free trial session, they did not do any ice application at the end of the treatment.
Since then, I have been to Kaya twice more for 2 more session of under arm laser epliation and one session of bikini laser epliation. Since I find it very painful, I requested them to pay per sitting as I am not sure if I’ll be able to put with more sessions because of the pain. They have charged me 1500 per session for under-arm treatment.
One thing that I found very different from the consultation I had with VLCC for laser treatment was that VLCC folks tell you that after one laser session, one needs to wait for around 2 months or longer till hair grows out again before one can have another session. Because of this VLCC recommended me 4-6 session for under arm hair removal. Kaya schedules their sessions exactly one month after the last one. What happens then is that since the hair has not grown out, one needs more sessions.
In this sense Kaya cheats ppl by making them come much earlier and therefore sit through more sessions. After only 4 sessions I feel that I dont need another underarm session at all. This is only because I was fortunate (and scared of the anticipated pain) to go to Kaya every couple of months. Otherwise the Kaya consultant would have been able to persuade me that I needed 8 sittings.
Also an 8 sitting package costs one around 12000 and they very cleverly offer a discount if you take the package. The package comes after a discount at around 10, 000. My 3 and half sitting(since I did not get the treatment for my other under-arm as part of the free trial) which seems adequate to me, with possibly one more session for which I will go would cost me only around 6000 Rs --a lot cheaper and less painful than 8 sittings would have cost me.
Another thing is -despite Kaya manipulating the time of treatment in such a way that people have to come back after only a month when the hair hasn’t even grown back in, some people may still require up to only 6 sittings. Kaya does not refund the money --people will be offered their over priced facials as recompense.It just doesn’t make sense to pay for an 8 sitting package at the very beginning.
I was happy with the bikini laser treatment ;if painful- it was effective. At 4500 I am not sure if it is still too expensive, but at least the effects have been great. I plan to find out if places like Vibes in Hyderabad offer me a better deal. But the attendant who served me was good and I’ll probably go back to Kaya for another couple of sessions --despite what Kaya may tell me, I know that’s all that I will need provided I go there after every 2-3 months.
